Tell us whether you cannot unlock the car, cannot turn the key, cannot start the engine or simply need a spare. A lost key, worn blade and unreliable fob are not interchangeable problems. Your vehicle’s year, make and model, current location and working-key status help us confirm compatibility and discuss availability and a quote. Car key replacement

Lost your only key, damaged a blade or planning ahead with a spare? Replacement depends on both the vehicle and the key type. A physical blade may need cutting; an electronic key may also need programming before it can start the car. Let us know whether a usable key remains.

We discuss replacement for supported vehicles by phone. Do not assume that a key advertised for a similar model will be suitable for yours. Share your exact year, make and model and any information about the existing key, rather than buying an unknown replacement before compatibility has been checked.

Car key and key fob programming

Programming connects compatible electronic key functions to the vehicle. A cut key may fit a door but still need electronic setup for starting. Transponder keys, smart keys and remote fobs can have different requirements, even when their outer cases look similar. Tell us how you normally unlock and start the vehicle.

A fob that stops responding does not always need programming. A battery, physical damage or a vehicle issue may be involved. Check the owner’s manual for the correct battery information, and describe which functions still work. We discuss replacement fobs and programming based on the supported vehicle and key system.

Car lockout assistance

When a usable key is inside a locked car, the immediate need is entry. When the key is missing, unlocking alone may not get you moving. Explain both the lockout and key situation when calling so we can discuss whether you need entry assistance, replacement or another automotive service.

Avoid repeated attempts with improvised tools that could damage the door, glass or lock. Tell us your location and whether the car is in a safe place. If a child, person or pet is in immediate danger inside a vehicle, call 911 first rather than waiting for a locksmith appointment.

Ignition repair and broken key concerns

A key that sticks, will not turn or is visibly damaged needs a careful description. Let us know whether the problem developed gradually or after the key broke, and whether a spare behaves differently. Ignition repair is a service we discuss for supported vehicles; a starting problem may also have causes outside locksmith work.

If a key breaks in a lock or ignition, avoid forcing the remaining piece or pushing tools into the opening. Ask whether broken key extraction is appropriate and supported for your particular lock or ignition. Availability and the approach must be confirmed; extraction alone does not establish whether the key or hardware will need further attention.

Do smart keys and transponder keys need programming?+

Electronic starting functions may require programming to the vehicle. A metal blade and electronic functions are different parts of a key. The exact requirements depend on your vehicle and supported key type.

Can you program a fob I already bought?+

Do not assume compatibility. Tell us about the fob and your exact vehicle before scheduling. We must confirm whether the key or fob is appropriate and supported; not every purchased unit can be used.

Which vehicles are excluded?+

Vehicle and key compatibility must be confirmed by phone. Excludes European vehicle makes and motorcycles; call to confirm compatibility. Do not purchase a key or fob assuming it can be programmed to your vehicle; tell us what you have before scheduling.

What should I do with a broken key?+

Stop forcing the lock or ignition. Describe where the key broke and ask whether extraction, replacement or repair can be discussed for your vehicle. Do not assume extraction will resolve damage to the surrounding hardware.

How is arrival estimated?+
